Is sustainable finance really becoming the norm? On paper, we’re finally there: broad adoption of ESG principles is causing a massive shift in asset allocation, investor preferences, and regulatory frameworks. After 20 something years, “sustainability” is finally a grown-up word in the finance vocabulary. No longer a fringe case, with people trying to change the system from within, patiently grinding away different barriers in the industry, creating the tools and re-framing perceptions. But this journey is also filled with many examples where the same fitting in, the re-framing and the piecemeal initiatives have simply brought an illusion of progress. Are we about to shift gear or waste precious years?
